Professor Nabil Ayad, Rector of the London Academy of Diplomacy (LAD) attended the lecture ‘Sexual Violence in Armed Conflict' hosted by the Women in Diplomatic Service (WDS) on Wednesday 29 May 2013.  The keynote speaker is the Rt Hon The Baroness Amos, PC, United Nations Undersecretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs & Emergency Relief Coordinator.

Professor Nabil Ayad, Rector of the London Academy of Diplomacy (LAD) and Professor Daryl Copeland, LAD participated in the 16th CEI Dubrovnik Diplomatic Forum on ‘Innovations and Changing Roles of Diplomacy and Diplomatic Training' between 23rd and 25th May 2013.  Professor Ayad gave a presentation entitled ‘Emerging Patterns in Diplomacy' and Professor Copeland gave a presentation on the impact of globalisation on diplomacy.

October 4 – 5, 2012 Baku International Humanitarian Forum

Professor Nabil Ayad, Rector of the London Academy of Diplomacy participated in the second Baku International Humanitarian Forum which was held in Baku, Azerbaijan. The Forum was hosted by the President of Azerbaijan, HE Mr Heydar Aliyev and the President of Russian Federation, Mr Vladimir Putin. July 5th – 8th  Tipperary, Republic of Ireland

Professor Riad Nourallah was invited to take part in the Tipperary International Conference of Peace, held between 5 and 8 July 2012, in the Irish Republic's town of Tipperary. The Conference saw the presentation of the 2011 Tipperary International Peace Award to former President Mary McAleese and Senator Martin McAleese in recognition of their contribution towards the promotion of peace and reconciliation in Ireland and between Ireland and Britain, a process culminating in the Good Friday Agreement of April 1998 and the visit of HM Queen Elizabeth to Ireland in March 2011. The Conference also witnessed a Peace Forum, during which the historic Good Friday Agreement was explained and debated.

May 3rd-6th, 2012 - University of Maryland, USA

Professor Riad Nourallah, Director of Research at LAD, attended "the Second International Kahlil Gibran Conference: Reading Gibran in an Age of Globalisation and Conflict". The Conference was organised by the University of Maryland's Gibran Chair for Values and Peace at the Department of Anthropology and the Centre for International Development and Conflict Management at the University's College of Behavioural and Social Sciences in collaboration with the Lebanese American University's Centre for Lebanese Heritage. The Conference was attended by scholars from North and South America, Africa, Europe, China, the Middle East, and Australia. Professor Nourallah read a paper highlighting connections between Literature, in this instance Gibran's works, and the cultivation of peace and human development and cooperation through Diplomacy, with reference to courses taught at LAD. The paper will appear in the Conference proceedings to be published later this year in the United States, edited by Professor S.B. Bushrui, Director of the Kahlil Gibran Chair for Values and Peace. Professor Nourallah's recent book on Gibran, The Death of Almustafa (London, 2010) was paid tribute to by Professor Bushrui during the Conference.

UEA London Inaugural Graduation Ceremony and International Diplomacy Symposium

This March the London Academy of Diplomacy, UEA London proudly hosted the graduation ceremony of for our first cohort of diplomacy graduates alongside the Diplomacy in the 21st Century:  17th International Symposium. The two day event was a fantastic celebration of everything that the academy has achieved since joining the university in 2011 and of the success of our students. It marks the first of many similar events to come as UEA London and the London Academy of Diplomacy continue to grow and develop as part of the university).

Professor Edward Acton, Vice-Chancellor, University of East Anglia presided over the graduation event and awarded the recent graduates from the London Academy of Diplomacy and students of the MA Creative Entrepreneurship their degree certificates.

HE Dr Khaled Al-Duwaisan, Ambassador of the State if Kuwait to the court of St James's and Doyen of the London Diplomatic Corps, was awarded an honorary doctorate in Civil Law  from the University of East Anglia.

The ceremony was followed by an evening reception hosted by the Ambassador for guests and graduates at his London residence.

The London Academy of Diplomacy hosted the 17th International Symposium at UEA London in collaboration with the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy, Women in Diplomatic Service Association and the Euro-Mediterranean University (EMUNI).  The conference is part of the Diplomacy in the 21st Series and followed the theme of Rethinking Diplomatic Practice, Global Commerce and International Security in the Age of Heteropolarity. It was a day full of exciting debate between London Academy of Diplomacy students, professors and distinguished guests with sessions led by a number of guest speakers and panellists. The symposium was followed by an evening reception and dinner at the Langham Hotel with guest speakers the RT Hon Baroness Hooper CMG, HE Mr Behgjet Pacolli, first deputy prime minister and former president of the republic of Kosovo and HE Dr Hafez Pashayev, deputy foreign minister and Rector of Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy.

A group of senior officials from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) who attended an executive training programme in Diplomacy, Practice Procedures which was organised by Professor Nabil Ayad. Some have been appointed as Ambassadors to various countries and others at senior positions within the UAE Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
